Recent Purchases: Fall 2017

Hi Y'all,

You're probably going, you've already bought everything for fall? Yep. I have. See, I'm student teaching so I knew I had to be on top of it this year.

I definitely hit up the Nordstrom Sale; however, I saw enough posts on it, so I didn't want to hit y'all with anymore than necessary.

Overall, I haven't really felt like I need to buy too much (more like get rid of instead).

Anyway, I definitely stuck to things I would "need" for student teaching and for my future teaching career. Sometimes, I can be practical.


Everything but the gingham dress came from Nordstrom during the #NSale. The Gingham dress is KJP's Jamestown Picnic Dress.

je t'aime J.Crew

Hi Y'all,

Today's post is all about my love for J.Crew!

J.Crew Groups Inc. actually began back in 1947. It's an American, multi-brand and channel group. J.Crew Groups Inc. includes: J.Crew, J.Crew Factory, Crew Cuts (kids' brand), Madewell, online, and catalog sales.

Originally, J. Crew Groups Inc. was run under the name "Popular Club Plan", and the idea was "a Ralph Lauren look for a lesser expense". In 1989, "Popular Club Plan" became J.Crew Groups Inc. The first store front was in Manahattan. The group opened their first international store in 2011 in Canada. Madewell became part of the J. Crew family in 2004.

That's the basics of the company thanks to Wikipedia (don't worry, multiple other sources confirm the same information).

However, here's why I love J. Crew:

1. Classic Look: I never have to worry about my items going out of style.

2. High quality. I don't really have to worry about them getting holes or fraying.

3. The cost. You're probably like you're crazy, but J. Crew often has great sales, and so does J. Crew Factory!

4. The options. I never leave J. Crew disappointed because I always feel like they have tons of options!

5. Comfort. No matter what, when I buy anything from J. Crew I know it's going to be comfortable no matter what item it is!

Kendra Scott

Who is Kendra Scott? Kendra Scott is a jewelry designer. She is known as a designer, CEO, and philanthropist according to her website.

What is Kendra Scott? Besides a person, Kendra Scott is a nationally known jewelry brand. 

Kendra Scott uses a lot of gold in her pieces, and they're all absolutely stunning. I personally wear the Elisa necklace in ivory almost every day, and I love my Elle earrings in ivory. 

While the pieces tend to be on the more expensive side, Kendra Scott is a known philanthropist. According to her website, last year she gave away 50,000 pieces of jewelry and over $1 million to local charities. Also, at Kendra Scott stores, they will allow you to host a gathering where 20% of every purchase goes toward a philanthropy of your choice. Check it out here.

Along with her philanthropy work, she values family. Not only does she have children of her own, but on her website, there is a lot of talk about how her employees are family. 

What are my favorite aspects of Kendra Scott? There's the color bar for one! The color bar is where you can design your unique piece of jewelry. So, say you wanted a Dani earring with a particular metal and stone....you create it, and it's yours! Another favorite of mine is the charms! I especially like that there is the Greek letters! I can't wait for the store to open up in my hometown this month so I can take a peak at them in person.

Fashion Friday: Investing in Vests

Hi Y'all,

I'm an absolute sucker for a good vest. Literally, I buy at least one new vest every year (this year, two-whoops!).

Anyway, here are some of my favorites:

Each of these vests are different, and have different ways to wear them.

For the L.P. Isabelle, I would wear it with a super thick sweater in the later parts of Fall/early winter before I need a really heavy coat. 

The Barbour Calvary Gilet is good for any kind of weather-with just a shirt underneath or a sweater. I absolutely adore the cinching in the back! 

I personally own the white version of the J. Crew Factory Quilted Puffer Vest and I absolutely love it! I got the collar monogrammed in navy blue, and I get compliments on it every time I wear it. This vest has super great pockets that I think are rather hard to find in a vest, plus it's a great price, and J. Crew factory often has great deals to go with the already good cost.

Finally, there is the Blake. It's super lightweight and would be good for the early fall/late spring when it's really too warm out to wear a real jacket, but still too cold to expose yourself with just a shirt.
