-Started in 1919
-Multiple subsidiaries, including (but not limited to): Maybelline and The Body Shop, Essie, NYX, and Urban Decay

Favorite Products
-Volumuous Mascara-original formula
-Infallible foundation

Products I'm Interested In
-Color Riche Lip Pen (probably in the Le Lacque one)

I was really shocked to learn that Loreal owned so many other brands, including the likes of Ralph Lauren (their fragrances), NYX, Essie, Urban Decay, Clarisonic, Garnier, and Redken just to name a few.

What are your favorite Loreal Paris products?

Makeup Monday: All About Maybelline

8:00 AM

Hey y'all,
I'm sure you've all heard and seen the "maybe she's born with it, maybe it's Maybelline" commercials and advertisements.

As you've probably seen for the past two Mondays, my Monday posts are typically make up related (at least for the time being)....this week's post is all about the brand Maybelline....

The Basics about Maybelline:
From the website:"From a small, family-owned business to the number one* cosmetics company in America, Maybelline New York takes trends from the catwalk to the sidewalk, empowering women to make a statement, explore new looks, and flaunt their own creativity and individuality. Inspired by confident, accomplished women, Maybelline gives you scientifically-advanced formulas, revolutionary textures and up-to-the-minute, trendsetting shades effortlessly, affordably, beautifully."
*Maybelline claims to be the number one cosmetic company is the US based on sales between 1/1/10 and 12/26/10.

Parent company: Loreal

Started in 1915 by Tom Lyle Williams, who named the company "Maybelline" in honor of his sister Mabel, whom he got the idea for after watching her apply vaseline and coal dust as mascara.

Located: Little Rock, Arkansas (since 1975)

Animal testing?: No!

Drugstore brand: Yes!

What does Maybelline have in their line?
Maybelline sells everything for your makeup needs: the actual products (foundations, blushes, bronzers, nail polishes, etc.) to the applicators.

On the Website:
Video tutorials, makeup trends, and makeup tips.

You can search for product based on the exact type of product you are looking for or what you are looking for in a product (particular finish, etc.)

My Favorite Products:
Line Stilleto Ultimite Precision Liner
Masterdrama cream pencil (eyeliner)- This is a great dupe for the Stila eyeliner.
'The nudes' eyeshadow palette (the original)
"Expert Wear" eyeshadow (I use this to fill in my brows)
"Color sensational" lipstick
"Color sensational" lip gloss

Do y'all have any favorite products by Maybelline?

MAC Paint Pots

8:00 AM

Hi Y'all,
Today's Makeup Monday post is all about one of my favorite products of all time: the MAC paint pot.
Uses: eyeshadow, eye shadow base, and/or concealer.

Description (from maccosmetics.com): A highly pigmented, long-wearing eye shadow that goes on creamy and dries to an intense, vibrant finish. It blends smoothly and creates seamless, buildable coverage.

Key Claims (from maccosmetics.com):
-Ophthalmologist tested
-Dermatologist tested
-non-caking
-non-flaking
-Crease-proof
-Long wearing (15 hours)
-non-acnegenic
-Water resistant
-Stay-true color
-Provides flexible coverage

Clearly, I use mine for ways the product was never truly intended for (but I'll be the first to say it cover under-eye shadows like a dream).

I first discovered this product thanks to Blair Fowler on Youtube, who talked endlessly about paint pots. She used the "painterly" color in one of her videos and bam, I was hooked. This color is flawless! Not only is it a great color, but the nude is so perfect that you can tell I'm wearing something but it's hardly there.

Unfortunately, this product has gone up in price (by about $2 in the past 5 years or so), but I for one, think it's worth it. It serves multiple purposes and literally lasts forever!

I've tried the Urban Decay primer potion, and the paint pot beats it out hands down!

This comes in a ton of different colors, and is readily available at any MAC counter, store, and online.

Makeup Monday: Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer

8:00 AM

Hi Y'all,

Every Monday is officially dedicated to Makeup over in on with southern grace. I am an absolute sucker for Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer.

I went away from this product for a while to try out some others, and well, let's just say I'm back and back for good. I spent some quality time at Sephora the other night getting the perfect color (after I messed up getting the wrong one while I was back at CNU for homecoming).

First off, this has built in 20 SPF. I can't even tell you how much I love that....

Second, the purpose! Laura Mercier's website states this as the purpose of the moisturizer, "Give skin a healthy no-makeup look with a hint of colour that evens and enhances without hiding the skin". The point of this product isn't to hide the skin, but to enhance and even the natural skin tone. I often find that my skin isn't even (and is often quite terrible).

Third, the feel. If you want weightless this is the product for you. I often don't even realize/remember I'm wearing make up by the end of the day.

This product has the absolute most perfect coverage, which makes it buildable if you want more than just a light moisturizer.

It's been given 4.5/5 stars on the Laura Mercier website, with 96% of users willing to recommend this product to a friend (of 199 reviews), and it's well known for some of the awards it's won.

Do y'all have a favorite product that you absolutely can't live without? What is it? I always love trying new products!
